Increasing client outreach in the Solomon Islands

13 Feb, 2017

In November 2016, Software Group completed a project for Bank South Pacific in the Solomon Islands, implementing mobile and branchless banking. The project scope included implementing USSD-based mobile banking, branchless banking and SMS alerts which enabled BSP to streamline their processes, increase client contact points and customer outreach.

This was the second project that Software Group has implemented for BSP. The earlier project enabled BSP to launch an e-ticket mobile banking solution with the national airline of Papua New Guinea (Air Niugini). This service enables customers to make bookings via the airline’s website, call center or sales office, obtain a booking reference number and then purchase the ticket via BSP Mobile Banking – all without spending valuable time in a sales office or waiting in line. The solution makes the purchasing process much more convenient, timely and user friendly and is a first for the Pacific.

BSP has the largest branch network in Papua New Guinea, Cook Islands, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu, with operations in many remote rural locations. BSP’s branch network is complemented by electronic banking networks that meet the banking needs of their customers wherever the company operates.
