Interpay to Accelerate Lebanon’s Financial Health with Mojo, a Mobile Wallet Powered by Software Group

5 Feb, 2023

Interpay, a Lebanese-owned payment processor that connects merchants to local and international payment capabilities, is partnering with Software Group, a global end-to-end digitalization partner to FSPs, to deliver Mojo, a mobile wallet in Lebanon - an ambitious and potentially market-changing solution for the Lebanese population living in and outside of the country.

As Lebanon has been experiencing а deepening economic downtime coupled with a global financial crisis, Interpay owners are determined to play a major role in complementing the Lebanese government’s efforts to revive the economy through a digital ecosystem that provides accessibility, agility, and stability to all parties involved.

Based on Software Group’s robust Mobile Wallet solution, Mojo will cater to both individuals and businesses through a stored value account with a variety of P2P, C2B, G2C and top-up payment capabilities.

With the banking sector at a halt, and Lebanon being predominantly a cash economy, Mojo will give Lebanese citizens access to a variety of digital payment services which will immensely improve their everyday banking and payments.

Customers can fund their wallet through an existing payment card, make payments to peers, bank accounts and at merchant stores, pay utility bills and more, safely and securely. While merchants will be able to add another payment channel by receiving contactless payments via QR code and manage their account via a merchant portal.

With our Group’s experience predominantly in Africa, the home of the mobile wallet, we saw an opportunity to bring this experience and know-how to the Lebanese market. An opportunity to help solve a devastating situation, complete collapse of a country’s financial system. If we can gain a country’s trust in a relatively new product to the market, the mobile wallet, help rejuvenate the Lebanese economy, and be part of a country’s success story, then our job is done,” said Deborah McConway, Interpay’s CEO.

’We are honored to partner with a forward-thinking company like Interpay, who want to pave the way to accessible and affordable digital payments in a country where currently such services are scarce. Software Group’s participation in this project is driven not only because of our robust technology and global expertise, but also by our social mission to innovate for a global economy that includes everyone, ‘’ said Connor Hanan, Software Group’s CEO for Africa.
